Central Steam Plant
The Central Steam Plant provides heating and cooling to almost 100 buildings on the St. George campus, as well as local landmarks such as the Royal Ontario Museum.
As part of Project Leap, the university’s first big step towards climate positive, one of the steam plant’s four gas-fired boilers has been replaced with two new electric boilers. These will serve as the primary heat source for the St. George campus and together with the geoexchange under Front Campus, help cut fossil fuel use on campus by 75 per cent.
